Listed here are answers to our most commonly asked questions. Do you have a question that we haven't answered here? Feel free to ask us. We will respond promptly.
- Is this a new idea?
- Yes. While the idea of link networks has been around for a long time (internet old timers might remember web rings), a LinkFamilyTM network is a revolutionary concept that addresses many of the inherent problems with existing networks.
- What do I get for my $299 set up fee?
- The one-time set up fee gives you lifetime administrative access to your LinkFamilyTM network. As a lifetime member, we will keep track of all of your LinkChildrenTM and their relationships in your network. We will present the correct HTML code to every member of your network along with randomly rotating key words and phrases that you supply. This allows you to target different key words and phrases for incoming links. In addition, we will continue to add free tools and resources to our members to help them maximize their search engine placement and internet visibility.
- Couldn't I do this on my own for free?
- Technically, yes. But, it would become a fulltime effort. In order to do it yourself, you would need to find other sites to link to you, walk them through the process of linking to your site, and make sure that their HTML code and key words are correct. That's just for those whom you refer. Then you would have to work with each of those referrals to find referrals of their own and help those referrals link to you and to your direct referrals, etc. Imagine how much work it would be to do that with just 10 people, let alone 100 or 1000! The beauty of creating a LinkFamilyTM network is that your only work involves placing up to 10 links on your site and then sending online invitations to a few others to join your network. We take care of everything else and you reap the benefit of hundreds, or thousands, of incoming links. No heavy lifting required!
- Do I have to place the AncestorLinksTM on my homepage?
- Not necessarily. We encourage members to place the AncestorLinksTM within 1 click of their homepage, but that is not an absolute requirement. One of the founding principles of a LinkFamilyTM network is that it's a "family." In most cases, you will have a personal relationship with the person who referred you to the network and, like a family member, will want to promote your "ancestor's" sites. In addition, your LinkChildrenTM will likely follow your lead on where you place your links. If not on the homepage, some likely locations for your AncestorLinksTM are on a "Our Partners" page, "Resources" page, or "Sites We Recommend" page. In addition, you could include the links in a blog entry or entries where you discuss each of the sites you're linking to. In short, we believe in karma. Be fair to your "link ancestors" and your "link children" will be fair to you.
- What if one of my AncestorLinksTM is for a competitor?
- You can opt out of placing any AncestorLinkTM on your site, with the sole exception of your immediate LinkParentTM. In those cases, we will give you a replacement link to display. The most common reasons for opting out are to avoid displaying competitor sites, or due to your being uncomfortable with the content of a site.
- How long am I required to keep AncestorLinksTM on my site?
- As long as you remain active in the network. We will periodically check your site to verify that your AncestorLinksTM are still displayed properly. If not, we will send you a friendly reminder to place them on your site. Failure to keep them on your site will cause your site's status in your LinkFamilyTM network to become "inactive." Inactive sites are not added to the list of AncestorLinksTM for new sites, instead replaced by another active site. This has the effect of causing your LinkFamilyTM to stop growing.
- Do I have to use the key phrases supplied when linking to my AncestorLinksTM?
- No. These are suggestions from the Site owner about what his/her site is about. If it makes more sense to just use the site name or URL as the anchor text, that's fine. However, if it's possible to use the supplied key phrase as your anchor text, we encourage you to do so. As a member of a LinkFamilyTM, we trust that you will try to properly promote your AncestorLinksTM, just as you will want the many generations of LinkChildrenTM to promote your site.
- Is this multi-level marketing?
- It's a fair, albeit somewhat humorous question. This is definitely not multi-level marketing (also known as MLM or network marketing). The only thing LinkSaleTM has in common with multi-level marketing is that they both recognize the power of exponential growth. While we pay a referral bonus for any site you refer, we don't pay any bonuses beyond your 1st generation of LinkChildrenTM. LinkSale is not a business opportunity. LinkSale is a search engine and website promotion company that easily allows you to create your own link network to promote your site.
- What's the difference between LinkSaleTM and LinkFamilyTM?
- LinkSaleTM is the parent company specializing in many forms of internet promotion. Our first major product offering is the LinkFamilyTM network. Look for new and exciting products coming from LinkSale in the future.
- Won't the search engines get wise to this?
- That's the beauty of what we're doing. There are not tricks to "get wise to." We don't employ any of the quesionable tactics found today to boost your ranking. We simply facilitate what the web was suppose to do, allow people to jump from one related site to another. One trusted site referring another trusted site is what the search engines want happen. While you might not have personal experience with each of the sites you link to, there's an implied trust through your LinkParentTM. In addition, you can opt out of any links you are uncomfortable putting on your site. The result is that your LinkFamilyTM will be a highly relevant and trusted network of sites. The search engines will love it.
- What's up with all the "family" references?
- The notion of families, ancestors, parents, children, etc. is familiar to everyone. Since the link networks you form bear a strong resemblance to a family tree, the terminology should help even the least technical person understand how everyone is related in their network.
- Can I communicate with my LinkFamilyTM?
- Not yet, but it's near the top of our list of features to add. Eventually, you will be able to communicate with your entire network, making LinkSaleTM a great business networking site as well as a website promotion tool.
- What's the best way for me to find LinkChildrenTM?
- The best way is to invite your business partners or associates to join your network. Many of them may already be linking to you. Your business associate's sites are also highly relevant to your business, giving you an even better search engine boost. The good news is that you only need a few of them to join your network for it to start growing exponentially.
- Can I put my referrals under a LinkChild instead of directly under me?
- Yes, and there might be some good advantages to doing so. However, there is not currently an automated way to do this. So, the best way to do it is to have the referal use the "invitation link" of their designated LinkParent to sign up. The referal bonus will go to the new LinkParent (instead of you), so you will have to work with them privately about who should get the referal bonus when it comes in the mail.
